Faith Formation

Faith Formation

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:4-7

Faith formation is a unique model of ministry. Instead of having a youth director or a Christian Ed director we have a faith formation director. The purpose of this position is to link the ministries together and to promote growth in faith, birth to grave.

Children – We feel that children are the foundation of a healthy church. We are constantly looking at what the needs of our children are and how we can meet them. As society and children change our ministries and how we meet kids also needs to change. As part of this, we try to use many different outlets to reach children including music, games, crafts and even computers.

Youth – As important as learning about God so is building trusted relationships with adults of faith. We have many different adults involved in different aspects of our youth ministry. We feel that is important that youth see and learn how adults live out there faith. The best way to learn about faith is to see it in action.

Family – Family ministry is an important step in faith formation. We want to create an environment of parents and children learning and growing in their faith together.

As part of this, we offer parent classes that focus on spreading faith and practicing faith with children

FLRB offers many family events and opportunities through out the year. At least four times a year we offer an intergenerational event. Past events include, making advent logs, Harvest Party, Walk of the Magi, Craft night, and game nights.

We also have all church events for example a Carnival in the parking lot, a church picnic and attending a sporting event together.
